Emulation

Fri May 15, 2009, 8:28 AM
I read this and I felt it correctly expressed the stage I'm at with my drawing. Although, I hope I don't draw like a third grader.

"Often they will use their panels to recreate, word for word, the strip we have made. This isn't really that weird: emulation is the first step to establishing your own creative tools. Think of it as a kind of calibration method. Where the result is known, the process can be refined."

Apparently a lot of artists start out this way...they emulate then create.

Here we go!

you know those flashes of inspiration you get when you look at a piece of art, and then next thing you know, you're a better artist?

I got one of those when I looked at your work.

Thank you! I really appreciate it! I love hearing nice things about my work. I've been keeping it to myself for such a long time I don't know what to think of it.

"Well, what have you got to lose? You know? You come from nothing, you've gone back to nothing! What have you lost? Nothing!"
:iconmaika-lamperouge:
Nice work, so far. Do you actually draw more "cartoony," rather than manga-like?

It looks like you're quite good at expressions too. Let's see what else you make~!

Thank you! I think it depends on my mood. I love chibis, anime, manga and American comics, too.
